I, the undersigned Member of the United States Congress, affirm my constitutional duty to ensure the timely funding of the federal government and to minimize harm to the American people caused by lapses in federal appropriations.

Accordingly, I hereby pledge that during any period in which a government shutdown is in effect, I will forgo all salary to which I would otherwise be entitled for my service during that period. I further pledge that I will neither accept nor retain any retroactive pay, reimbursement, deferral, or restoration of such compensation for service during a government shutdown.

In the event that compensation is issued to me during a government shutdown as a matter of law or administrative action, I commit to donate an equivalent amount, within thirty (30) days of receipt, to one or more bona fide nonprofit organizations recognized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and operating within my congressional district or state, provided that I have no personal, familial, financial, or governance relationship with such organization.

I further affirm that I will not direct, earmark, or condition such donation in a manner that provides me with personal benefit, political advantage, or indirect remuneration, and that I will publicly disclose the recipient organization(s) and amount(s) donated in a timely and transparent manner.

This pledge is made voluntarily, in good faith, and as a matter of public accountability to my constituents. I acknowledge that this pledge creates a moral and political obligation, enforceable by the judgment of the public, and is intended to reflect my commitment to responsible governance and fiscal stewardship.
